Filosofía y poesía de urgencia. Emergency philosophy and poetry.

Emergency philosophy and poetry.

After too many weeks of being subjected to a media overload, in addition to the overdose that was indispensable to me for work reasons, I have decided to say enough is enough.

I have turned to poetry and philosophy. And not because I'm a snob or an intellectual, you can believe me if I tell you that it's pure survival.

I will start by sharing with you a happy discovery, there is intelligent life left on this vast planet, even if it seems a lie. Oriol Quintana is a catalan thinker who shows us that not only Zizek or Byung Chul Han have something to say in these times. In his book la Pereza (laziness), he gives us a narrative virtuosity excercise by approaching a capital sin with an elegance that, I confess, I have not found in a long time. I will not make a textual commentary or technical analysis, I will only tell you that it is a delicious read, that it uses clear and pleasant language and leaves a good impression after tasting it. The ideas are presented with simplicity, without rhetoric or embellishment, so you will not find straw or heroism. What you will find are a handful of well-chosen references to Cervantes, Shakespeare, Jordi Pigem, Jonathan Swift or Giovanni Pico della Mirándola, among others, which serve as a wicker to build a reflection on laziness that drinks from our religious and historical tradition and expands in the text in a way that manages to give it a much deeper meaning than our secular education contemplates.

I will say no more. Dare to read a book that can be read in one go in a couple of hours but which will force you to navigate it again with a pause to get all the depth out of it.

The second proposal has to do with lyrics and consists of revisiting Rainer Maria Rilke in one of his most mystical works: Das stunden buch (The Book of Hours). Since my knowledge of German is quite elementary, I find the journey very suggestive.
