Los médicos somos un gremio para dar de comer a parte. Por un lado sus miembros somos seleccionados entre lo más granado de los estudiantes de un país: excelentes expedientes académicos, incontables horas de estudio y una marcada tenacidad. Por otro bregamos con el dolor y el sufrimiento humanos, condiciones laborales adversas (guardias, atención primaria…) y variadas situaciones límite. El resultado es que encabezamos estadísticas de adicciones, suicidio, burn out profesional y otras miserias. Por eso cuando un grupo de galenos conversa en un entorno no laboral suele hacer un ejercicio de catarsis que puede ser insufrible para profanos al ser inevitables las anécdotas sanitarias con las que acostumbran competir a cual más escatológica, sangrienta o asquerosa.
Mis amigos Juan y Guido de Yo, doctor han publicado una novela gráfica que da cuenta de esta faceta de los médicos no siempre conocida por el respetable. La necesidad ancestral de todo grupo de médicos que se junta fuera del trabajo, sobre todo si son residentes, de convertir en narrativa los fantasmas, errores, miedos y demás situaciones increíbles que el trato con personas provee.
Anécdotas hay miles, las que nos comparten los autores han sido vividas por ellos mostrándonos que en muchas ocasiones la realidad supera la ficción y que el ser humano es mucho más enrevesado de lo que pensamos. Les doy la enhorabuena por la calidad de la obra y por su excelente lenguaje gráfico que dominan con maestría. Espero nos permitan entender un poco más la complejidad de la vida de los pacientes y de aquellos que como médicos tratamos de ayudarles.

Doctors are a guild to feed part. On the one hand, its members are selected from among the best of a country's students: excellent academic records, countless hours of study and a marked tenacity. On the other hand we deal with human pain and suffering, adverse working conditions (guards, primary care...) and various borderline situations. The result is that we head statistics of addictions, suicide, professional burn out and other miseries. That's why when a group of doctors converse in a non-working environment, they usually do a catharsis exercise that can be insufferable for profane people because the sanitary anecdotes with which they are accustomed to compete as eschatological, bloody or disgusting as they are.
My friends Juan and Guido (Yo, doctor) have published a graphic novel that gives account of this facet of the doctors not always known by the public. The ancestral need of any group of doctors who meet outside of work, especially if they are residents, to turn into narrative the ghosts, errors, fears and other incredible situations that dealing with people provides.
There are thousands of anecdotes, those shared by the authors have been lived by them showing us that on many occasions reality surpasses fiction and that the human being is much more complex than we think. I congratulate them for the quality of the work and for the excellent graphic language they master. I hope it will allow us to understand a little more the complexity of patients' life and of those of us who, as doctors, try to help them.
