Mental Obesity
The welfare state, in its purest form, has gifted us comforts we could once only dream of, but it has also brought a dark side: consumerism has made us lazy and complacent. We have an abundance of sofas, screens, series, mobile phones, and more, creating an environment where physical and mental activity has reached a historic low.
We speak of “mental obesity,” a phenomenon that is nothing more than the replacement of neurons with fat. It is the erosion of our cognitive abilities, our creativity, and our motivation, replaced by a silent addiction to inactivity and passive entertainment.
We have become consumers of time, not managers of life. We are filling our hours with empty content that nourishes neither body nor soul, and this is as harmful as a diet high in sugar and fat.
It is crucial that we take action. The solution does not lie in the latest Netflix series or the TikTok algorithm, but in returning to the basics: taking care of our diet, both for our body and our mind. We need to rediscover the joy of physical activity, the stimulation of critical thinking, and the satisfaction of creating or doing things ourselves rather than just buying or consuming.
In a world where everything is handed to us on a silver platter, it is our duty, for the sake of our health and awareness, not to fall into the trap of extreme comfort. True health, both mental and physical, cannot be bought—it must be cultivated.

我们必须采取行动。解决方案不在于最新的Netflix剧集或TikTok算法,而在于回归本质:关注我们的饮食,不仅是身体的饮食,还有大脑的“饮食”。我们需要重新找回运动的乐趣,培养批判性思维的刺激感,以及创造和亲自动手的满足感,而不是仅仅依赖购买和消费。
在这个一切都唾手可得的世界里,为了我们的健康和觉醒,我们必须警惕不要陷入极端安逸的陷阱。真正的健康,无论是精神上的还是身体上的,都无法购买,它需要用心去培养。
