Es fundamental empezar a hablar de Gobernanza de Datos en salud, un término reciente que aun no tiene traducción al español en Wikipedia. Lo cierto es que todo el mundo habla de datos y muchos se frotan las manos con los enormes y riquísimos bancos de información sanitaria existentes y potenciales. Los teóricos del Big Data nos vienen cantando los beneficios que vendrán de la explotación de los mismos pero se habla bien poco de como diseñar una regulación correcta para evitar que se vuelvan contra el ciudadano.

En una época en la que nuestros desplazamientos, compras, historial de navegación e interacciones sociales virtuales quedan registradas y son usadas por diversas compañías, imaginen lo que ocurrirá cuando nuestros genomas, historiales sanitarios y datos biométricos estén en Internet.

Sería deseable que toda organización sanitaria se dote de estrategias transparentes y consensuadas de Gobernanza de Datos como que a nivel institucional y de regulación legal se implementen líneas estratégicas que velen por los derechos de los usuarios. No sería muy inteligente delegar este tema en compañías de software o tecnológicas como no lo es dejar al zorro al cuidado del gallinero.

It is essential to start talking about Data Governance in Health, a recent term that has not yet been translated into Spanish in Wikipedia. The truth is that everyone talks about data and many rub their hands with the enormous and very rich existing and potential health information banks.
